Blue Fish Farm
Introduction
Since its inception, Gaya Agro has been committed to the environment following the rules laid down by the European Union and committing resources to implement good agricultural practices. Furthermore, we have been continuously buying and using better and newer agricultural machinery with lower CO2 emission and conserving the land we cultivate.
Building and operating an organic over-land fish farm within the boundries of our existing agricultural business aligns fully with our vision for a cleaner, healthier and environmentally friendlier agriculture. We strongly believe that organic fish cultivation and production is a financially viable business with a huge future prospect which we intend to exploit and develop.
Blue Fish Farm will be a fully over-land organic fish farm which will grow and produce approximately 320 tons of Sea Bream and Sea Bass yearly. We have taken the already innovative concept of Recirculation Aquacultural System (RAS) a step forward creating the “Quantum Organic Fish Farm” which combines the RAS concept with additional elements of clean energy production, a nearly zero carbon footprint and the development of adjacent 5 Hectares of organic greenhouses which, in addition to the possibility to use the same clean energy resources, provides the perfect solution for the sludge and other waste created by BFF.
The RAS ensures reduction of water usage while improving waste management and nutrient recycling. Furthermore, we intend to achieve that with a nearly zero carbon footprint, using renewable energy
Location
Blue Fish Farm will be located close to the river Maritsa which runs from the Rila mountains in South Bulgaria through the Thracian valley all the way to the Meditteranean sea. In close proximity are several villages and the town of Septemvri, where Gaya Agro’s main base of operation and administrative base is.
The Project
Over a 2 Ha. Plot we will erect an over-land organic fish farm that produces, within a tightly controlled environment, clean and healthy fish.
The fish will be grown from the fingerling stage up to its optimal weight-size in water basins filled with rain collected, oxygen enriched, water. The tanks will be located in a closed hangar-style building with an overall size of approximately 0.5 Ha.
There will be special rooms for machinery – pumps, oxygen generators, heating/cooling systems, mechanical and biological filters section, waste treatment rooms and control rooms – as well as special rooms for storage, sorting and handling, packaging and administration.
We will install solar batteries which will provide the necessary energy for the farm and, in the future, for the greenhouse project.
Blue Fish Farm is designed from the start to be an ecologically clean project that will leave a near-zero carbon footprint while, at the same time, producing a healthy and nutritious product which is in constantly increasing demand in Europe.
